Swapping Commute for Communities
Community Coworking Ltd (CCL) is a social enterprise set up to enable new ways of working: swapping commute for community – supporting local economies, breathing life back into obsolete spaces on high streets in rural & urban settings.

We care deeply about thriving & powerful communities and want to help build a future that works for everyone.
Community Coworking Ltd evolved from a mix of hyperlocal co-working proposals and digital poverty initiatives with the goal of making sure ‘no one is left behind’ by the digitisation of our society. This is an important part of the vision, but we envisage these spaces having much, much wider impact.

Our work supports the drive towards equality in people and place.
CCL’s work will underpin the national ‘levelling-up’ agenda by supporting the development of thriving communities, where every resident & citizen regardless of age or background has equal opportunities in employment and education. In 10 years from now, we envisage a national infrastructure of inclusive community coworking spaces on the high street.
Our Aim is to
Build, Measure, Learn , Scale

Swapping commute for communities.
Our aim is to enable the supply of affordable and accessible co-working spaces which can be easily reached by a walk, cycle ride or on public transport, helping to reduce carbon emissions and giving people the chance for healthier routes to work.

Serving rural and urban needs alike.
Co-designed with local authorities & local stakeholders, these spaces will form the active glue to bring together local authorities, business & grassroots organisations.

Aligning grassroots activity with national policy.
The choice of locations will be set primarily against criteria portraying underlying conditions for thriving communities. The uses of each hub will be designed to local context & needs.

Scalable and Replicable place-making solutions.
Going beyond the effect on health, well-being and productivity, the use of the spaces will help address the adverse effects empty retail, office & legacy properties are having on many communities corroding town and retail centres.
